2010 marked the centenary of the death of Henry Dunant, a Swiss businessman and social activist, who was responsible for the creation of the International Red Cross Committee. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1901. His birthday is celebrated today as the World Red Cross Day. In recognition of the activities of Henry Dunant a certain amount from the sale of each coin handed to the Red Cross.
